Went to a hidden away Charity Shop today, and they were selling records at 2 for 25p. *smile* The stock wasn't great, but I did manage to find a few (mainly Jazz) titles.

Various - Goodtime Rock N Roll (includes tracks by The Coasters, Little Anthony, The Crystals, Bo Diddley)

Ella Fitzgerald - Ella

Simon & Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Water

Charlie Parker - One Night In Washington

Charlie Parker - Memorial Concert

Dave Brubeck - We're All Together Again For The First Time

Charlie Parker - The Definitive Charlie Parker Vol.6

Modern Jazz Quartet / Oscar Peterson Trio - At The Opera House

Dave Brubeck Quartet - Jazz At The Black Hawk

Various - In The Groove (Big Band 6 Album Box Set)

All for the grand total of £2. *smile*

'One Night In Washington' is genius; Bird just improvises over some pretty average big band and he is phenomenal. Great record; one of my fave Parker lp's. Hard to find these days too. Bargain, BBB. Those others are pretty good too. Well done!!!

Thanks Jim, I was rather happy with my haul too. I was going to give the records a play, and if they're more my dad's kind of thing (rambling, tuneless and undynamic), I'll let him have them. Will certainly give 'One Night In Washington' a fair go though.

Car Boot this morning, and there wasn't a lot of records around, other than a few dealers charging really silly money. I did manage to pick up 3 from one of those stalls that sells all sorts of junk for very little money though. Sleeves are quite poor, but the records looked excellent, so for a pound for all three, I took a punt.

John Otway & Wild Willy Barrett - John Otway & Wild Will Barrett

Fleetwood Mac - Rumours

Derek & Clive - Ad Nauseum

Clapton - Journeyman

Managed at last to get myself a decent copy (and it looks really decent) of Tom Waits's Bone Machine, having been too broke to buy it when it came out. A fantastic album, and not easy to find on vinyl. Also a 12" with the My Bloody Valentine remix of Primal Scream's If They Move, Kill 'Em, which just gets madder and madder. Will give them a spin tomorrow.

Nice stuff.

A copy of Tangerine Dream 'Atem' arrived this morning, so looking forward to seeing how it sounds later.

So it is possible to get a decent record for a decent price from Oxfam occasionally. *shok*

Bought Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin for £1.99 today.

Obviously, it wasn't an original pressing, but a German mid-price reissue from the 80s, but both sleeve and record are in excellent condition, so a genuinely good buy.

Not the turquoise text version then? There are a few on eBay at the moment - at asking prices of £699, £750 & £1100!!

Great album though.

After my moderate success with the Led Zepp album at the charity shop, I decided to go round a few more today, and came back with nothing.

I did see Kylie Minogue 'I Should Be So Lucky' 7" in pretty poor condition for £4 though, so atleast I had a laugh.

Sweet Memories in Fratton yesterday.

It's a cracking shop with plenty of stock. The prices might be a little on the steep side but you can't argue with the condition of the records, not had a chance to listen to everything i bought but what i have sound like new.

I wasn't as flush as i needed to be to come home with everything i wanted but i did come home with

Boogie Down Productions - By All Means Necessary

Isaac Hayes - Hot Buttered Soul (reissue)

Tangerine Dream - Thief OST

Die Walkure (Karajan/Berliner Philharmonic)

Looking forward to playing this to my 5 year old daughter who has been marching around the house singing it since hearing it on a TV programme.

In the record shop, bought Thin Lizzy Live and Dangerous for £8. ACDC For Those About To Rock £8 and ELO for £2. Also a double album.

Then went to Royal Mail to collect my Mastodon reissue on green vinyl.

and my led light turned up too, for lighting the turntable up.

A good day all round.
