Absolutely stunning and noise free, well apart from the music

As the jazz-man used to say, 'Mmm, nice!'

Congratulations on being post number 2000, by the way.

I haven't visited this thread for ages. Quick list of recent purchases:

Finally managed to complete my set of fairly decent copies of the classic Curtis albums:
Curtis Mayfield – Curtis
Curtis Mayfield – Back to the World
Curtis Mayfield – Got To Find A Way
Curtis Mayfield – Sweet Exorcist
Lawrence English – The Peregrine (drones on the theme of a bird)
Fire! – She Sleeps, She Sleeps (mad jazz-noise trio)
Fire! Orchestra – Ritual (as above, but with a full orchestra)
Fire! – The Hands (a bit more post-rocky this time)
Gogo Penguin – A Humdrum Star (almost drum-and-bass-like jazz; fantastic)
Gwenno – Y Dydd Olaf (lovely electro-pop, sung entirely in Welsh)
Gwenno – Le Kov (sublime indie-pop, sung entirely in Cornish this time!)
Rae Morris – Someone Out There (pure pop, decent songs and some interesting production)
Anna Von Hausswolff – Dead Magic (organ-driven heavy prog; more mellow than her last but still very powerful)
Courtney Barnett – Nameless, Faceless (a freebie 7" in advance of her new album)

And then a couple from Record Shop Day:
Six By Seven – 04
Daughter – Music from Before the Storm

...the walls of the city begin to shake

The Deviants - Ptooff! Raw 60's psychedelia / prototype punk. Memory's not what it was, but I think when this was originally released you couldn't buy it in any record shops, it was mail order only and cost fifteen bob / a quid (?). Was there some connection with Oz and IT (International Times)?

Pink Floyd - Relics With the exception of a couple, I already have all these tracks on other albums / singles, but a lovely compilation.

Charles Mingus - Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus

Ben Webster Quartet - Soulville

The connection between The Deviants, formerly The Social Deviants, and the British underground press was the lead singer Mick Farren who regularly contributed to International Times (IT) and other publications. I can't remember whether he contibuted to OZ but I would have thought that he probably did ie record reviews. 'Disposable', released on Stable Records, is another great Deviants outing and an anarchic hoot of an album.

Thanks, Jim_W, for the memory jog. I remember Mick Farren now and the band being called Social Deviants. Think they played at the 14 Hour Technicolour Dream.

put a bid on Faith no More’s latest album. Sol Invictus. I’ve already got it, but really wanted it on gold vinyl. I’d seen it go for silly money, so when i won the auction at £20 I was well impressed.

Deodato, Love Island (nothing to do with the TV programme), LP arrived today. I've had the CD for years, and wanted to compare them. Early days, but sounding good so far.
