Hi All, just taken delivery of a new album i recently purchased from Analogue Seduction, Raising Sand by Robert Plant and Alison Krauss - Now Playing

Popped into Banquet Records in Kingston and bought Billy the Kid on white vinyl, produced by Frank Turner....superb. Looking for record shops/fairs in the Basingstoke/Reading/Southampton areas, any suggestions?

There used to be a monthly record fair in Southampton on the last Saturday of the month - small, but free entry and sometimes you'd find something good. It used to be in the Star Hotel in the High St. I went to it a couple of years ago but haven't managed to get back since, but looking online it looks as though the venue has moved, and the dates have changed. I think this is the same fair I went to: http://www.usrfairs.co.uk/

I see there are also some fairs in Winchester and Andover. Whether it's the same dealers at each of them I don't know, but hopefully you'll find something you like.

A second-hand shop opened in Southampton last summer. I've not been able to get down there, but it would be worth checking out if you're in town. It's called Back Tracks. Here's a listing with details: http://www.vinylhub.com/shop/12394-Back-Tracks

There's also an Oxfam Record shop in Southampton (in the High St, just up from the Star Hotel) and one in Winchester, in the upstairs of their book shop.

If you're in the area, there's also a new 'new' record shop in Romsey, which is just a few miles away. It's called Hundred Records. Again, don't have experience but it would be worth checking out if you're there.

Let us know what you think if you visit any of them.

Finally managed to get hold of a vinyl copy of Gamel by OOIOO today. Really pleased. Japanese gamelan-inspired improvised rock. Who could ask for more?

You're welcome. Look forward to hearing about your experiences. I had chance to pop in to the Romsey shop recently - didn't have long to spend looking around, but it looks promising. A good selection of vinyl as well as CDs.

Led Zep - Physicall Graffiti 2015 resissue

Public Service Broadcasting - The Race for Space

and Bjork - Debut reissue just dropped for my letterbox, however I am bidding for a French repress on the bay

Just back from our new record shop with:

Björk – Vulnicura
Björk – Biophilia (the new coloured vinyl edition, this came out just before I decided I'd rather spend more money and get records again rather than CDs, so am now catching up)
Cooly G – Wait 'Til Night

Now listening, cup of tea in hand.

Lost (instrumental version) - Trentemoller

Head Down - Rival Sons

Loud Like Love - Placebo (blue vinyl)

Post - Bjork

Medulla - Bjork

Gravity OST - Stephen Price

The Paradigm Shift - Korn

If You Wait - London Grammar

Fear Of A Black Planet - Public Enemy

.

I was in Sister Ray records in London yesterday and was very surprised to find "Culture Of Volume" by East India Youth in the racks as I was certain the release date was April 6th? It had to be bought of course and is a splendid listen.

Brothers in Arms - Dire Straits

Mezzanine - Massive Attack

Forgot just how much low down bass was on Angel.

Two great albums.

Tangerine Dream - Alpha Centauri

Tangerine Dream - Phaedra

14 Iced Bears - Wonder

and I've just ordered a copy of Amon Duul II - Phallus Dei

Yes and cost me a fortune

Vessels Dilate £17

Caribou Our Love £18

Jessica Pratt On your own love again £20

Neil Finn Dizzy Heights £18

But worth every penny!!

Courtney Barnett – Sometimes I Just Sit and Think, Sometimes I Just Sit (Aussie indie-punky singer-songwritery stuff, like it a lot)
The Staves – If I Was (melodic, bit folky, not sure about it yet)
and have ordered
Songhoy Blues – Music In Exile (African pop, fab)
Dengue Fever – The Deepest River (Cambodian- and Latin-inspired rock, odd but interesting)
