Some of the records had been put by for someone, but the guy in the Charity Shop said he'd rather sell them to me then and there, as the other guy hadn't been back for a week. I gave them a couple of quid extra for doing that, but as you can see, I did pretty well.

Most of them are in great condition, though the Otis Redding's and Big Youth are only very good.

I am happy though.*biggrin*

A number of reasons really. Firstly, I enjoy music. Secondly, I enjoy movies. Thirdly, I (usually) enjoy the soundtracks of the movies I enjoy. Admittedly, go back a couple of years and I didn't really have any soundtracks other than John Carpenter's The Thing - I now have about 80.

After watching Sinister again the other night, I'm quite looking forward to picking up the OST for that by Christopher Young, as it seemed rather good. Soundtracks - or more accurately, scores - are designed to enhance the feeling of what we see on screen, to produce tension, menace, or atmosphere, which can be more enjoyable than listening to a simple pop or rock song.

A bit 80s for my usual taste, but I've made a some space for more records, so I'm on a bit of a mission.

Sylvian is undoubtedly a bit pretentious, but I do love some of his work. I actually got home to find I already had those 2 Japan albums, so they'll be getting sold soon.

I highly recommend picking up Rain Tree Crow's only album - basically Japan line up, for those who aren't familiar with them.

I bought the 12" of "Black Water" on release, but I never bought the album. It was a short lived reunion if I remember correctly, but I can't quite remember the details of who disliked whom, though I think it had something to do with Sylvian being with Ingrid Chavez, who was Mick Karn's ex.

I did go to see Sylvian and Fripp at the Albert Hall in the 90s, which was superb. I remember seeing an old school friend who was on security at the event, and he told me that after the gig, Sylvian and Fripp were sitting down to a 3 or 4 course meal. Rock n Roll!!!!

I got distracted, and forgot the reason I came on this thread.

Just received a copy of the most recent My Bloody Valentine album, which I won on eBay a few days ago. The reviews are good on the whole, so I'm very interested in giving it a spin very soon.

Anyone heard it?

I did see David Sylvian live about 15 years ago - I can't remember the backing band, but I'm sure Mick Karn was in the line up, as far as I know it was pretty much Japan. Great voice, and a different class of live band to the norm.
