Does coloured vinyl 'sound' any different to the black stuff? I had a luminous yellow vinyl copy of Stevie Wonder's 'Songs in the Key of Life' (sadly no longer) back in the day, and it sounded quite odd. I put it down to the vibrantly coloured vinyl, but it could have been terrible mastering or something else.

Just to keep this 'on thread' - I bought London Grammar's 'If You Wait' on 'Audiophile Vinyl' today (2x disc). The CD sounds superb and I'm dying to hear it on a TT. (Which may be not for some time as I'm waiting for Roksan to release their new PUG tonearm before I make my new TT purchase).

In my experience, coloured (= 'non-black', i.e. including white and clear vinyl) rarely gives particularly good sound quality. Often very noisy, as though it's way below mint.

Mind you, among current pressings, I'm experiencing a lot of problems, especially with US pressings, as I've said elsewhere.

Have just got hold of sealed original copies of:

Kate Bush – 50 Words For Snow
Björk – Medúlla
Björk – Biophilia

I did buy the coloured vinyl pressing of Biophilia that was released earlier this year and, true to form, the second disc sounded like bacon frying. Hoping the original will be better, although the disc surface was very dusty (possibly mildew, although it doesn't smell). Will clean and listen to them tomorrow.

I've had no issues at all with coloured vinyl. But I bought two megadeth albums that were on the black stuff which sounded like the needle was dragging through gravel.

Still waiting on EMP delivering more vinyl on back order... They've let me down a few times recently.

Bought the first five LP/CD boxsets from an online shop for £49 each.

What records still have them at that price.

Not sure how long the offer lasts.

I've just one word to say to you........................Queen! *shok**shok**shok*

*pardon*

You don't know the half of it.

It's funny, but whenever I get asked what type of music I am into, I find it very difficult to answer. The old cliche, "I like what I like" applies here. Whenever I have a listening session, it takes me back to times, places and feelings in my life like no other medium can. Queen's Greatest Hits, in particular, takes me back to being a 10 year old child of recently divorced parents. I suppose therein lies the strong emotional attachment I have to the songs on the album.

Plus, my daughter loves it, along with Abba...no, don't go there...please!

I understand emotional attachment, I understand Abba (to a degree), but I just can't accept Queen. 'I want to break free' is very close to the worst song ever recorded, it's truly appalling, and whenever I hear 'It's a kind of magic', I tend to sing "It's a load of bo****ks" over the top, which does make it a little less painful.
