You must have quite a collection by now. In the main, what sort of condition are most albums in when you buy them? Do you make allowances based on price?
I'm not sure how many records I have, but I'm struggling to fit them in the racks now.
Condition varies so much, and if a record looks like it's quite badly scratched, I won't touch it whatever the price. The condition of the records is my priority, sleeves are secondary for me. For example, I got an early pressing of Miles Davis Bitches Brew for 50p recently. The sleeve is pretty much knackered, and the records looked grubby when I bought it, but I couldn't really see any significant marks or scratches, so for 50p, it has to be worth a go to see if it cleans up well. It did. A perfectly playable copy, it won't ever be saleable because of the sleeve, but I don't have any intention of selling it. The Roy Ayers LP I bought today is looking pretty scratched up, but the guy was selling 3 for a pound, and I needed one more record, so for 33p, it has to be worth the risk. I had a wonderful Japanese pressing of that album, but sold it when I was a bit short of cash, so I'd been looking for an affordable copy ever since.
