Hi all:

My system currantly is Marantz 603+ KEF R100, i have heard some comments on KEF LS50 which indicates more detailed and accurate performance. is it true compared with KEF R100?

Also, i know KEF LS50 is quite peaky about which amp pairing with it. Any suggestions?

I mainly listen to pop music.

Thanks vm

thanks Steve. I havent tried. But is Marantz 603 powerful enough to drive LS50? is there massive difference between KEF R100 and LS50 in terms of the performance?

cheers

In all honesty I dont think the Marantz (which at its price point is superb) would not really do justice to the LS50 - think you need better amplifacation to get the most out of them

Agreed. All amps have their limitations. Think the LS50s on a 6003 maybe a bridge too far IMO. Only a dem will confirm this or not.

The LS50 is definitely the better speaker, in my view., Although the MCR603 will drive them at normal levels, they need better amplification to allow them to sound as they've been intended and to push them to higher volumes.

what do u think about KEF R100? i never domed KEF LS50, which i should have done before i bought my KEF R100 :wall:

My advise is stick with the R100s, if you want the LS50s then budget at least £500 but preferably much more for a decent amp. The LS50s like a bit of volume and space to get going.

Thanks for your advice. I probably will stay with KEF R100 and i am fairly happy about its performance.

Looking to upgrade to PM1 with audiolab 8200 cdq+mono power in the near future.

Thanks again
