If buying active speakers or a satellite/sub combo can one settle for a less powerfull amp?Is there any sat/sub combo that that compete with a traditional excellent bookshelf speakers?thanks

There is always the Avi adm 9.1's, but there are some pro style setups from behringer or genelic? as well as Quad 11's and the actimate offerings.I am going to get the Avi sub at the end of Aug or begining of Sept! I have managed to up my budget (da wife is well kind init!)

There are some good and well specced Behringer actives at around £150 which are apparently very decent for the money. Half tempted to eyeball them myself. See the Behringer site for more info, but there are also KRK, Mackie and Genelec to consider also. Prices going from £100 all the way up.

Just bagged myself a pair of KRK Rokit 5's and they are superb.......also try Behringer " The Truth".......
