But what a purchase!

I'm gonna build up the suspense here.....

I set up 'snipe' this afternoon, to put in a max bid of £600, for the mystery item, with 2 seconds to go and then went down the boozer to watch the football. I didn't pay it another thought as I reckoned it would go for £800, easy. I just got home to find that I've won the mystery item.

How much was the mystery item? £560.50

What was the mystery item? Only a blooming Mitchell Gyrodec!

I still can't really believe I got it, and for less than £600. Beautiful! That makes up for me losing all my bets on the footy today.

Well done boozer...sorry! I mean Bretty, I take it you are going to do an inter-deck transfer with the project arm for the time being??

That wouldn't be the one with the broken lid and no power supply would it????

.....asks he who doesn't use a sniper.

Ah well, hope yo enjoy it bretty! I'm off down the pub to drown my sorrows.

Nice one Brett.

Bit of expenditure to come then...

Arm (rega rb250 presumably, since it has the arm board, and your Pro-ject arm ain't gonna fit) - £120
Spider conversion kit (looks cooler, sorts out the broken lid business) - £50
Power supply - dunno, depends on which bit is missing and whether it's the old AC or newer DC unit. But an HR power supply is 300 quid and up...

Cheers, Mitch. Yep, gonna put the Pro-ject arm on, until I get the cash together to get the Silver arm.

Yep, that be the one. I didn't mind the damage to the lid, as it comes with that funky Unicover, which i'll use instead. I've sourced a power supply for a tonne, too.

Were you one of the bidders, Alears?

bretty:Yep, gonna put the Pro-ject arm on, until I get the cash together to get the Silver arm.

No you're not (see above). Unless I misread and it has a Linn armboard included as well?

Personally I'd save the cash you'll need to spend on a Linn armboard (which is what I think the Pro-ject arm requires) and just get an RB250. No doubt the P arm is fab, but the RPM4 will be worth about £4 without it.

The RB250 can be upgraded in stages to be an uberarm in its own right.

Oh to be fair John, the way Bretty's going he'll have the OL Silver arm bought and the Project sold before we can all draw breath! LOL!

One of the pictures on the bay showed what looked like another plate in the deck's original box, but the seller made no refernce as to what it was. I'll stick the Project arm on the Gyro, anyway. I don't mind buying the plate required. By using the Project arm, til I get the Silver (probably late October), and then putting it back on the RPM-4, I won't have a surplus arm to sell on, which I would if I buy the Rega. Then i'll sell the RPM-4 back to Steve for £120 or so.

I get what you mean about the RPM's lack of value without the arm, Johnny. It's just two lumps of MDF.

JohnDuncan:He's got that already:

And remember, if you would like a bespoke sheet of MDF with some rubber feet bunged under it, I can supply them for £399.99! Delivery and VAT excluded. Terms and conditions apply.

Get yours today!!!!

No, no. Thank YOU. I owe you one.

Alears:
Bretty,

Yes I did put in a bid or two...

The HR and Orbe upgrade was all lined up to..........ha,Ha!

Ah, erm.....Awkward! Er, Sorry?

Nah, seriously, bad luck, matey. Sounds like, if wasn't sniping, it would have been yours! As I said, I didn't get to watch the auction. Did it get mental towards the end?

All's fair etc etc...

Didn't see the end myself just stuck in a bid then back to work....ho hum!

You did well to find a power supply for a ton, I couldn't which is why I held back a bit.

Enjoy!

shooter69:Well Brett, that was quick turntable upgrade.

Christmas has truly come early.....

Yeah, it was a bit sharpish! Now I've just got to get a new arm and pick a new cartridge and that's the whole system sorted. No more upgrades after that.
