Dear all
This will be rather longer so my apologies for that. I have the following setup for some
years now: Sonus faber Concertino Domus speakers with Roksan Kandy amp and cd
player (the first generation). I am quite happy with the sound however I feel
perhaps its time for an upgrade. I am considering two ways: First keep the
speakers and upgrade the electronics only to Audio Analogue, Copland, …

Second option would be to build a new setup around a new speaker. That new speaker would
be either Sf Liuto or ProAc D18/D28 with new electronics.

So the question: what would you do? What is the best match for my existing speakers
Concertino Domus? And your suggestion for Liuto vs ProAc? And the best matching
electronics?

Your feedback is much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

What is it you are looking to change soundwise?

If you are relatively happy with the SQ from existing speakers, if in a position to, try and demo them with an Audio Analogue or Copland... depending on which models, I would imagine either would be a big upgrade on the Kandy.

Keep us posted on what you decide.

Thanks for your reply. Actually I would prefer a more open sound than currently with Concertino Domus. Thats why I am considering ProAc.

What would be the best electronics to match those (D18 or D28 )?

Sugden is well known to be an excellent match for ProAc.

Have you any idea of budget?

From my experience with Proac and SF, Proac is a little more detailed in the high freguency, just a little.
If you are after "open" sound, both of them are "open" when feed with enough power/current.

Between SF liuto tower and d18, I would go for Liuto.
It's a full 3 way design with dedicated mid range cone and a 8 inch bass.
Provided you are OK with timbre of both speakers , Liuto will for sure provide more scale and dynamics.

And the SF look, how can you resist?
:p
