The Yamaha would be my choice with your Kef's right now. The Sony 1040 has been discontinued with the new 1050 hot on its heels which might be worth a look as well if your not in a hurry. Onkyo have also just announced their spanking new 636 which would also be in your budget.

I used KEF floorstanders with Onkyo 905 but gave them to my son who uses them with my old NAD reciver and he loves them. I now use a B&W 685 Theatre with my Onkyo and my son tried my B&W 610 subwoofer with the kefs and he is saving up now.

I heard a Yamaha Receiver with £2000 Kef fronts and they sounded pretty good but the Australian Yamaha sounded really different to my Onkyo I woild have liked to hear it with the new B%W 685s!
