Hello,

I'm experiencing access problems to FLAC files with my Yamaha CD-N500.

The CD-N500 player is on my network and has access to my NAS and my public shared folders on my personal computer (Windows 7). The player's firmware has been updated to 2.0 recently. On this network, according to the player tech specs, it should see my FLAC files encoded in 44100Khz and 16Bits.

The player sees FLAC files on my NAS but not any in my shared folders on my personal computer.

If I copy these readable FLAC files from the NAS to my personal computer, the player does not see them too.

If I copy FLAC files from my personal computer to my NAS, the player does not see them too.

This behaviour is quite strange. I contacted Yamaha support and I'm still waiting for their answer. But maybe you can help.

Ok,
I got it !

On a Windows system, Music is shared by Windows Media Player and WMP does not support FLAC natively. That means WMP can't play FLAC files and also cannot read FLAC files tags. And that is why I could not see FLAC files in my shared folders through Yamaha CD-N500.

I installed FLAC codecs on my Windows (http://xiph.org/dshow/downloads/) and "WMP Tag plus" plugin for Windows Media Player (http://bmproductions.fixnum.org/index.htm?http://bmproductions.fixnum.org/wmptagplus/). Then, WMP can read FLAC files and, most useful in my case, get FLAC files tags in order to show the songs, artists and album in the music library.

Hope it will help.

Hello,
it's me again.

I'm now having problems with "Yamaha Network Player" Android app.

When I play a song from my network in this app, it plays another song ! It looks like there is an offset between the song listed in the app library and the real files on the network.

I did not find any info about a known bug ih the app.

Do you have an idea ?

Hi there, I've had the same problem as you. It only seems to occur though, when I send new FLAC files to the NAS from my CD drive. I guess the data files are being reindexed when this takes place but your App doesn't know this until the App is refreshed. Otherwise, very pleased with the versatility and sound quality. Try listening to Yello "Touch" if you get a chance. FYI Synology D213j NAS (2x WD red 2TB in RAID 1), Solwise AV 200 ethernet, Yamaha AS-500 amp, Rogers Studio 1A speakers.
