Hi,

Narrowed down my search for a new TV.

Cannot choose between these 2 x LCD's,

Samsung 46 656

Philips 47PFL7603

Main uses, 75% Freeview, 25% blu ray & gaming.

Any comments to help me choose will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Hi Spooky

I'm desperately trying to narrow down and make my choice of a new HD tv and keep coming back to Panasonic or Sony (based on reviews and trawling the internet) I'd be interested inknowing why you narrowed down your search to these two sets.

thanks

Paul

Thats easy, the wife! she likes the look of both of them.

I have seen both in action and TBH i'm swaying towards the Philips based on ambilight and a slightly better freeview picture.

I also like the white back and perspex surround. Sound is also amazing on the Philips for a LCD.

Personally i prefer LCD.

I have not read this months WHi Fi mag but i understand the Philips gets a good review.

In the group test which other TV's were included?

We tested the 42in version of the Philips - the 42PFL7603D - which won the test. We did put it up against the Samsung LE-46A656. which got four stars - it's a great set, but rivals (inc Philips) offer slightly better clarity and detail.

Our favourite 46in set is currently the Sony KDL-46W4000, but we haven't tested the 47in Philips up against it yet - the 42in Philips was certainly slightly superior to the Sony for motion-handling, however.

Many Thanks. Some very positive comments for the Philips.
