Hi, can anyone help? Am thinking of changing my speaker cable. I have Mission 780SE speakers (old I know, but more than happy with!), a Marantz CD6004 AND mARANTZ PM6004... What would be a good biwire speaker cable without breaking the bank...? And is it better to use plugs or not?Hope someone can help....

2.5mm Loud Speaker Cable Oxygen Free 322 Strand from eBay, cheap as chips (< £6.00 for 10 metres) with plugs and that's all you need. Honestly, try it for a punt. :)

There may, with some speakers with optimally designed crossovers, an advantage with bi-wiring but mostly there is none. Use a decent quality heavy weight copper cable and if you can find someone competent with a soldering iron, put on the appropriate plugs/spades and have him wire an extra short loop at the speaker end to go to both sets of terminals.

If you are really anal you can spend a good few hours working out whether the supplied links on the speaker terminals should remain in place or be removed. Some very careful listening will be required here.
