Hi, for 4 years now I have a SKY Q set up with the main box direct fed into my Denon AVC-X3700H amp, and from amp to a SAMSUNG QE65Q75TATXXU.... all has worked faultlessly until I turned the TV on Saturday PM and I just keep loosing picture and sound for 5 to 10 seconds then it comes back on for 10 to 30 seconds and off again...

I have a xbox running through the amp also and the remains fine....

I have changed cables from the sky to the amp, and tried different input HDMI ports into the amp and no difference, same problem.

Had the sky engineer around this morning, nice chap... he thinks its a resolution issue, we plugged the sky box direct into the tv and it works fine, no loss of picture or sound....

However I have a media wall where all cables are hidden and its quite a big job to re-feed cables etc..

What on earth could have happened, I am pretty sure the TV nor the amp had any firmware updates between Friday night (when it remained fine) through to Saturday PM?

It does sound like a HDMI handshake issue.

Does it just constantly go off and back on again or does it stabilise?

When the picture does come back do you notice any change in quality/resolution?

I appreciate the X Box (which one) works fine but have you changed the cable from the amp to the TV? (I assume as this has not been listed and you mentioned it's a pain that this is not the case?)

Perhaps you can try this? No need to mess with the media wall initially, just run the cable externally, as I say, just to at least test.

Hi, all cables checked... i should have prob motioned the sky box does seem to keep defaulting back to 1080 rather than the UHD setting, but then still the problem continues....

Hmm.

Have you checked the resolution settings on the receiver?
Looking at them now they are -

  • HDMI video Output - Auto(Dual)
  • Video mode - Auto
  • i/p Scaler - On
  • Resolution - Auto
  • Sharpness - On
  • Progressive Mode - Auto
  • Aspect Ratio - 16:9
