What would this set up be like?!?!?!?!

- Mordaunt Short 902i Speakers

- Rotel RCD961 CD Player

I can get all of this for £200 including cables.

Would this setup work well? I'm going to try it out first because it's local, but I don't have any experience with hifi so won't be able to really make a decision.

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

Should be pretty good, especially for that price. I found the Mordaunt Shorts quite weedy, but you may disagree (especially for that price).

thats worth a 1000 opinions on here. take a few cds that you know and like. certainly on paper its well worth it.

I think I might get it, then sell the 902i's on ebay, and get some mission 651 speakers instead.

What d'you reckon about that?

Don't know the Missions. Hear the MSs first though, you might love them - others on here sure do.

I have heard 640 with 902i and it was very musical indeed, CA and MS gels really well. So, i think there wouldn't be a problem with 540 and 902i. Decent bass and midrange with nice treble are some of the highlights of the above combo. But, 902i partnered with a wrong amp could be shrill and unpleasant IMO.
