If I had insane amounts of disposable cash, I would buy a Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 with the ESAVOX audio system.

Lamborghini says "The ESAVOX is a docking-station speaker that takes its cues from the most iconic details of Lamborghini dream cars: a monocoque chassis in autoclave polymerised carbon fibre, a variable-valve exhaust system to handle the sub-woofer pressure, a passive shock-absorber system to dampen vibrations and variable-height tapered supports."

There's also offerings from pagani for an unlisted but obviously going to be crazy price.
The record deck integration looks very nice. 😎

Why should they need to? Plenty of other manufacturers for that....
I love the McIntosh but the cost of maintenance is pretty high. Still, I guess that's a small price you pay for magic.
Shame they don't do solid state?
There's a McIntosh CD player for sale on eBay at the moment. It's quite unusual looking. I bet it's a great CD player. I was thinking that only our American friends know how to do American styling.

Only McIntosh can come up with these extraordinary if not eccentric designs.
The budget version is more conventional, kind of cute. 😊

Based on my experiences at the Bristol Show, I wouldn't spend an insane amount of cash. My pondering would include...

Hegel, Audiolab, Rega, Amphion, Harbeth and Audio Note.

I think I would be very happy with an Audiolab 9000-series system and top-end Wharfedale speakers, as demonstrated at the show. No need to spend more than that.

NAD M66 and NAD M23 and a pair of KEF R3 meta, with matching stands in blue. This is John Darko's current system and the best he's heard. I would love the funds and space for this setup. It's a lot, but I think it would be worth it, according to all the reviews I've seen. Spending much more would provide only cosmetic improvements in my opinion.
