Initial thoughts was for Mission mx3's to replace mission 751's and to get a Marantz 6004 amp. I took the 751 with me to Richer Sounds and had the chance to get a great demo swapping the 751 for mx3 but I was not as impressed as I could have been. Then a pair of Tannoy mercury V4 were plugged in and it was night and day. The Marantz is now at home with the Tannoys and I am a very happy bunny. The price was excellent as well...thoroughly recommend Richer Sounds Middlesborough.

The 751's are very clear and bright but lack bass, the mx3's sounded a bit 'muddy' in the bass and they did not have the clarity of the 751's. The Tannoys had the brightness of the 751's and the solid bass that I was looking for. My rock now really rocks. Looks are fine and the Tannoys are just a little taller that the 751's on their stand.

That gives me giggles. Obviously, the town needs to change its name because it's not P/C.

Anyone have an idea how the Tannoy Mercury V4 compares to the Tannoy DC4T?
