Andrew Everard:
jase fox:incredible sound

Yes, entirely without credibility.

jase fox:2012 is a great demo disc for audio to.

Especially if you're after the accurate sound of global destruction.

No, not accurate sound of global destruction (however, on that subject you cant say it DOESNT sound like that either) but VERY accurate sound of speaker placement and LFE to put any subwoofer through its paces.

Besides AE the subject matter is "Vote for your fav DVD sound" and NOT "for your REALISTIC sound a movie can produce on the subject in hand!! i.e global destruction, plane crashes and even kissing in a movie as the sound some of them can produce whilst doing so, is nothing like the sound when i kiss my partner, or am i missing something?

Michael Jackson's This Is It - left me absolutely stunned. Never thought live music could sound quite so good on a home cinema system. Astonishing.

Got to totaly agree I love Band of Brothers on Blu-Ray. Sound is good all the way through, but disc three, Crossroads and Bastogne are out of this world....

Good choice Laserman

Is it really that good? I might have to have a look into this one. I've seen the whole box set for £17 in Tescos.

IMO it would be one of the best £17s you'll ever spend on a Blu-ray

Day after Tomorrow when the ice cap breaks off at the start,

I use it to show my friends the difference between dvd audio and blu-ray. It really does sound like the ice is cracking around you.

Hi Dean

Only saw the first two episodes that sky showed one weekend. For me personally they did not do much for me, but perhaps its unfair of me to judge on only two episodes.

There have been others on here who have seen the whole series I think who think perhaps its not quite in the same league as Band of Brothers.

I suppose its all down to personal preference in the end though.

Havn't heard any feedback on this film and wondered why as the DVD was excellent and I am considering buying the BD

Music:

The Knife Silent Shout Live DVD in DTS. They describe it as an audio visual experience. I think that's spot on. The lovely little electronic sounds just buzz around the listener, perfectly in synch with the otherworldly visual presentation. It's hard to find though. If you enjoy The Knife, this is a must have.

Movie:

The Dark Knight, Iron Man, Heat and Miami Vice. The shoutouts in the last two are incredible, it feels like someone is shooting holes in your couch left and right. I'm aware of the bad reviews Miami Vice got, but I disagree, love it.

Wall-E. It's DTS-HD Master track is the best I've heard. It's a perfect demo disc.

Well thats it, B of B drags you in and its as if you can almost identify with the characters.

For me that didn't happen with " The Pacific ".

I think I'm the only one who enjoyed "Pacific"

Pacific is quite different to BoB, and while I absolutely loved BoB, Pacific was just great.

Back to best off:

Saving Private Ryan I think is fantastic. Had to duck with all the bullets flying around.

Also liked the Christian Bale Batman's.

Yes, I have the region free US version (bought from Movietyme.com). It's an excellent Blu-Ray which has extremely good picture and sound (featuring a lovely uncompressed PCM soundtrack as well as a Dolby TrueHD version) - both are a clear step up from the DVD. When you're buying, ensure you get the Remastered version rather than the original version - if buying new from a shop this shouldn't be an issue as the original one was discontinued, but watch out if buying used / secondhand.
