Okay so I don't HATE tv but watch very little of it and don't have a games console either (!) but always loved good sounding systems - Dad's a bass player who used to be pretty well known (taught Phil Lynett to play guitar in the 1970s...) so got a bit of an ear for good sound. He had a rather serious system, a lovely collection of bass guitars and a bass amp that almost causes earthquakes...!
However I'm never going to go crazy on hifi kit - just decentish stuff for a sensible price.
Just bought a Teac Reference 300 (with DAB tuner) system and wired it to Bose 301s with unknown but expensive when bought cable and stuck a van Damme interconnect for Amp to CD which made a big difference.
Nothing too flashy but suprisingly good sound for such a dinky system - I like quality sound, not boomy JVC/Panasonic/etc overblown watts!
