Toshiba or Philips LCD?......

Which LCD TV would anyone (especially from the magazine team) suggest getting out of a Toshiba 40ZF355 and Philips 37PFL9603D? I mainly want it for Hi-Def PS3 games and Blu-Ray movies, but the wife and kids will be watching lots of SD stuff. If the HD performance is pretty much the same, I'll probably just go for the one with better SD pictures. Oh, and before anyone points this out to me, yes I am aware the Toshiba is 3 inches bigger. Any feedback is most welcome.

also have you seen the sonys bit good methinks and you can get a 40 at silly money online there is just something about the sonys colours..i do like the philips and i have a tosh now which i am looking to update good tv's just skin tones are a bit over the top and on SD they are really poor and mine is the 100hz 5star jobey..have fun looking barkerwoo

I spent a long time in John Lewis looking at the Toshiba 40zf355DB against the Sony 40 W series on SD Freeview - I had been set on the Sony (given reviews etc) but have found the SD pictures weak - the Toshiba had better SD pictures. Given I will use the TV initially for alot of normal TV I don't think I could handle the Sony. Haven't really considered the Phillips but will keep an eye on opinions. Have been looking for a TV for months - bit of a minefield with compromises to be made for most sets..
