Hello,

I have Rega Dac Rega Brio-r amplifier ,Dynaudio Audience 52 speakers.Today, i bought Atlas navigator for 42 pounds.

Previously I was using some cheap interconnects and obviously i was pretty get used to that.Somehow it was producing really smooth music. With less detail but more like a sound comes from a record player

Now I do hear much more detail , comparing to my old cable but somehow i dont enjoy the music.I found previous ones more easy to listen.Should i return this ones and get another cable?

Give it a bit of time to get used to the 'new' sound- once your ears adjust to the extra detail you may well appreciate it.

I went from freebie cables to QED Qunex 4S a few years ago, and had a similar thing- after about two weeks I got used to the sound and suddenly realised what I'd been missing with the cheap cables.

What Hifi's review does mention that the Navigator is a very 'analytical' interconnect- very accurate but not as musical as some. To get one for £42 is pretty incredible (rrp is £180 according to WHF).

If you decide to change, a Chord Chameleon Plus might be the way forward. Have a look through these forums and the WHF reviews to see if anything else takes your fancy. Even an Atlas Equator mk2 might do it- a bit cheaper at £75 but an excellent musical cable.

Jon.

I agree with the above, I have the Chameleon Plus with VEE plugs between my amp and DAC!

lovely and smooth, taut bass with good sounstaging!

Kylie Abbey Rd sounds like she is in the room

Agree.

Whether it's "burn in" or "getting used to the sound", I would leave on repeat for 48 hours with a variety of music, and listen again. This can be done with little volume if necessary. If you still don't like the way it sounds after that, sell it on an go back to "as you were".

 I don't think it's getting used to the sound if you leave it on for 48 hours without listening to it! ;)

To be fair there's no such thing as too much detail in a literal sense. If it's showing you more of what's going on in the mix than your old interconnect then it's doing a better job. Sounds to me that the problem is your system has an imbalance bordering on what hifi mags might call strident or forward, and your new interconnects are highlighting this. The result is you feel all this newfound detail is being thrown at you in an overemphesized way rather than it blending in. The short answer is go back to the other interconnects if you prefer their more veiled sound, but that's not really fixing the problem.

Come to think of it, some time back I bought an Atlas Navigator from ebay and hated it, as it introduced sibilance. The Linn Black was far better to my ears. I still don't know if my lead was a faulty one.

Yeah, it is exactly what i feel.Tons of detail digged up but instead of given in smooth way it just been thrown to my face.I think i am looking for a more musical cable.

Cheers old man Cno :p ;)

You don't know the half of it. :help:

I realised after posting that strictly that ought to be 'old man Evil', which would be much cooler 8) I'm picturing Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino.

You should be picturing Steptoe in "Steptoe and Son". :(

I like "Old Man Evil" though......

I use the Navigator too. Have to say there isn't a massive amount of difference between it, the QED Qunex 2, the Monster Interlink 400, the Computergear cheapos I have somewhere or the Audioquest Turquoise. I have a detailed system already. In essence, it's a copper based cable. So are the rest. Avoid silver and pick something cheaper. The difference isn't going to be massive. Or put your old ones back in.

Ahh detail! I now have it in bucket loads. Most of the time it greatly adds to my musical enjoyment but sometimes it does not. When it doesn't it's down to poor recordings so I don't blame my kit for revealing what's there but curse incompetent recording.
