Stacking amps?

Hi andrew, regarding your advice about putting my power amp on top of the pre-amp, having looked at the two, it seems that the power amp,s heat vents are on it,s belly, therefore if placed on top of pre then it would get more heat to deal with, do you think i should keep the pre on top. Can,t put side by side, have to stack, also on top of each unit are dimples at corners for each component to fit into. Thanks john.

Which power amp do you have? Is it the Ampmaster? Yes, it does seem that the Sudgens are the exception that proves the rule, in that the power amp has a solid top plate with no vents for heat to escape, and the stacking feet built into the units will allow some space for air circulation.

So in this case yes, preamp on top of power amp is fine.
