Just read a usa review of the new Sony edge lit tvs, EX700 (UK model EX703) & HX800 (UK HX803). I was disappointed to read that the two sets were reviewed as 'picture is no better than an lcd apart from power consumption' & the more expensive monalithic tv faired slightly worse that the cheaper EX700 model in lab tests. They went on to say that the edges were brigher than the centre of the screen, but it was no major issue! Par for the course, but no great shakes!!

Will have to see what the 'What Hi-Fi' team make of them.

good..that will save me some money as it makes the choice easier: good ol' regular LCD.

I have read a review of another tv, not Sony, where the edges were brighter than the centre on a 40" edge lit.

Would this problem be carried down to the smaller 32EX603 I wonder, otherwise the 32NX503 looks to be a better bet - it looks fantastic.

Check out the review of the new Sony 32" EX403 on play.com, the guy is not happy!

Oh Dear,

That's really disapointing.

The monoliths look fantastic, but I guess only when they are off!

I was getting ready to justify the premium cost outlay

Look forward to reading a review too, especially if the batch inconsistency proves otherwise.
