I am now looking to replace my 2024 model TCL 50 inch tv for same size but a better 2k TV Hisense looks a great bet what does the forum think . ( i not ruled out TCLK but the menu is not great on there and is slowwww) Has to be 50 inch any larger be too big for my table and we have a small room too , My other TV is a Sony 49 inch 2016 model works very well but not 2k at all . Feel Samsung and Sony be too expensive to buy and i prefer to change my TVs every 3 years anyway so what does the experts think ?

People will need to know your budget for recommendations?

This Samsung with an extra 20 per cent off discount code included on the page:

5 Star review from WHF and a TV I would recommend, let us know if it’s too much though?

Want a LG OLED TV?

This was £521 yesterday with a 5 year warranty.

Currys on EBay have a refurbished one for £480?

You could pay 3 easy payments too.

I'm not sure what is cheaper.....I don't change my Panasonic / Samsung / Sony TVs for 10-12 years at least.

Are you sure you want to change the TV for a 4K model (I presume 2K is a typo) as the resolution difference at 50" will be minimal (If noticeable at all), also if its just the smart features that are slow you can just get a streaming box or stick to solve that problem.

Whether the higher resolution makes a difference depends upon how close you sit - it's about angular resolution, not screen size per se. A 4k set should also offer high dynamic range, so if you are going to be watching things so encoded you should see gains that to my mind are often as important as higher resolution.

But quite why you'd want to change a TV every three years is beyond me, you don't seem to be saying there is a problem with what you have.

I will wait now until nearer Christmas for the 2026 models to drop in price maximum to pay £800 for a 50 inch that is my limit i am not interested in sound at all just the picture and plenty of USB HDMI slots . Weird thing the 2016 Sony often is better than my 2023 model TCL of the same size but for me Sony are out of my price range

Not many Sony TVs are available in 50-inches anyway…

This would be my choice today for the budget:

Modern TVs are smaller due to tiny bezels, so you may find that the 55-inch TVs are similar in size to the 50-inch ones in the past.

Economies of scale suggests you may find better deals in the 55-inch sector simply because of the volume of manufacture (making them cheaper to make than 50-inch counterparts).
Great TV and a fantastic choice. OLED too and a 5 year warranty.👍

Hi TV experts,
What about a Hisense c2?

I am interested to follow this thread.
I haven’t had a TV for more than 20 years (at least) so : no clue on technologies and assets or weaknesses of a tv. Just seduced by the video projector to install and remove when not used.

You can buy the 50-inch Sony Bravia 3 for £399 at JoyBuy:

Hisense used to have a bit of a reputation for inconsistent quality, but that’s changed quite a lot in their projector line-up. The C2 Pro is actually very well reviewed for picture quality.

The trade-off is that it’s still a lifestyle projector, so you get compromises (placement flexibility, software quirks, fan noise), and it’s not as refined as something from Sony or Epson.

Thanks a lot for your feedback.
I ditched the TV almost 30years ago.
I have no clue on technologies, specifications to be warned of…
Silence seems obvious now you tell me.
I do not want to bother the owner of this thread with my personal concerns.
Just want a device to watch rugby matches and sometimes a movie. The sound will be sent to my hi-fi system.

You could start your own thread...whats the budget, how far you sitting from the screen, what size screen are you tninkgin, how big is your room, is it bright or light controlled, is optimal picture quality important or is it something to be used very occasionally (seems to be). That info will allow suggestions to be e offered 👍
