Quad 34/44 and 306/405 - thoughts please

Morning all. I'm still putting a lot of thought into the next step and I'm seriously considering Quad amplification. I might just save and save for the Elite integrated, but I am attracted to some of the older pre-power stuff and would be interested in any experience people might be able to offer. The idea would be to use them with my existing Quad speakers.
