My setup is: Onkyo STX-R875, Sony PS3, Toshiba EP-35 HD DVD, Sony KDL-46X3500, Monitor Audio Silver RS6 (with REL Quake sub), Arcam Alpha CD player. I want to upgrade the power and HDMI cables. I now only have a limited budget so for power leads I am looking at the Russ Andrews Powermax Plus or the Tarantula Figure 8. For HDMI cables I am looking at the QED HDMI-P - not sure I can step up to the QED HDMI-SR or Chord Company 1.3 Silver Plus. Any thoughts on these or any other cables. Also what recommendations for a power block.

[/quote] The QED hdmi-P will be fine - I have the SR and the P and cannot notice a difference. I also have the Tarantula power cables and again not a massive difference from my normal power cable. The best value is the Tacima mains block/conditioner. You will probably spark a huge cable war here but I think that once you get to QED-P for hdmi and that it's 1.3a, any improvement is going to be so minimal that it won't be worth worrying about. On a separate note, why the Quake and not the RSW12? I've just bought mine and it's phenomenal.

i really liked my merlin tarantula mains block and actually thought that it made more of a difference than when i also upgraded all my mains cables to match - thought made bg difference to stereo not so much tv!!! if your looking at merlin go the online store or their ebay store far cheaper than in shops
