Hi,

I'm tempted to buy a Panasonic TXP 50ST50 for € 1000 - £ 825.

Is this a good deal? I've already read a lot of reviews on the ST50 and they all recommend it even at full price

Thanks !

Hi,

I still can buy the 50GT50 but tt's at least £ 400 more than the 50ST50.

2 years ago I owned a 46S20 and I really didn't like this tv especially with SD and even with 1080i broadcast.

The flicker in the screen was much more visible than on my old PZ70.

I sold it to a friend of mine, he had a Sharp LCD, and he was blowed away by the picture quality of the pana.

But having that said, I was so dissapointed by the S20 that I don't want to make the same mistake by buying the ST50 and ending up selling it because I'm not pleased with it.

The deals we have here in Belgium are :

50ST50 £ 825 55ST50 £ 1200

50GT50 £ 1070 ( not available anymore only at £ 1235)

50VT50 £ 1400 55VT50 £ 1645

My budget is about £ 1100 and I really wanted the GT50, but isn't the ST50 much in par with the GT50?

I've read many reviews on these 3 models and I know the differences.

I just want a bigger screen (55" max) and it really has to be much beter than my old PZ70.

I'm really pleased with my PZ70, thanks to the 50 to 100 Hz switch, but I'm looking out for a bigger screen that WOW's me just like the PZ70 did years ago.

This is a quite a good clip comparing the two

As you can see they are quite similar but from the clip the blacks look better on the GT, and perhaps the colours are more accurate.

Thanks for helping :)

I've cut down the list to two models

55ST50 £ 1200

50VT50 £ 1400

I'm tempted to go for the ST, due to the reviews at HDTV Test. They can pick out the beter things of the VT, but the only thing that is clearly visible between the VT and ST is the out of the box picture. You will need to get the ST calibrated for best picture performance. The VT is superior to the ST, but I don't think it's worth the extra cash. :?

An other factor is the size. When comparing a 50" to my 42", the difference is enough but also not THAT much. But the difference between 42" and 55" is clearly visible. :)

And the 55ST50 is still £ 200 cheaper than the 50" VT.

Waiting for reply ;)
