The other down side is they don't take credit cards, cash or debit only.

Why don't they accept credit cards? My local corner shop does...

It's beacause retailers have to pay a little bit more for credit card transactions over debit cards. Debit cards only cost the retailer a few percent per transaction, where credit cards could cost upto 4% or 5% per transaction, it's allot to pay if they are selling the goods at a cheap price to start with.
