notaclue:Following that logic all your previous 5* screens are now 4* - even the Samsung UE46B/C8000, which you only just reviewed - else I we have to conclude they too are better than the Panasonic - which is fine by me but slightly surprising?

Roll on the forthcoming 3D TV group test, when all star ratings will be reassessed.......

Hmmm. I've got a 46HX803 on order (at a pretty good price) - was umming and ahhhing about switching to a 46HX903. Had settled on the 803 and now this spanner in the works ...

Well, I unfortunately haven't received the magasin yet, but I am looking very much forward to reading both reviews!

This Sony surely must be exceptionel. The new king.

I eagerly await confirmation from other independant review sites.

I assume you have seen the mag?

Seen it, read it, filed it.

Already filed it

i have to read mine about 10 times first.
I don't find a lot to read in the magazine and once is usually enough. I buy it to fund the website.

I believe it's on its way. We'll certainly review it before our Awards.

Should be interesting testing coming up - and we're not pre-judging anything!

We haven't tested the 46HX803, but the 40in version - the 40HX803 - is a four-star product (you can read the review here). Good, but not in same league as the '903.

i honestly dont know what to say about this review/group test ...

i was sure that the panasonic would lose a whfi group test to some form of lcdtv , that was never in doubt for me ..

but to give it 4 stars , knowing that all other reviewers rate it as the best tv on sale , well , lol , that was kinda brave , fair play you know who
emotion-1.gif
..

there will be a few posts , maybe 70-80 , people asking questions , and getting the usual "we are independant" etc answers..

the mods will use their intellect to try to discredit those that mouth off and to defend the now becoming infamous , whfi performance per pound reviewing procedure
emotion-19.gif

a few regulars will chip in and defend what hifi and accuse the unhappy posters of being childish etc..

a couple of thousand nerds like us will see the thread , maybe less..and in a few days it will be forgotten..

and whfi will steamroll ahead , selling its mags and getting its advertising revenue , as a business model it has done what it had to do ..

so , no throwing the dummy out of the window for me , i like the forums and respect the team as individuals
emotion-21.gif
..

what i suspected all along i now know to be correct .. thats a cryptic one , could mean anything , very very ambiguous is that
emotion-5.gif
..

there , that shouldnt get me banned

well sony needed a good year this year ..

looks like they are having one
emotion-11.gif
..

Totally overlooking the four-star review of the HX803 Sony 3D TV, plus the Supertest win for Panasonic in this very issue.

Panasonic will sell far, far more of that 32in set than they will of VT20s.

As i've already said, try reading it/them first.

And my comment directly above, which you're ignoring, as it doesn't support your own world view.

The review calls into question the competency of the 'rest of the worlds' reviewers. One reviewer in particular gave it '''reference''' status. Now reference doesnt suggest 4 stars, (OK the HX903 may now be the reference (lets see) ) b ut even second best gets 5 stars in my book

Its not just 4 stars for this set that appears out of kilter, it has to be judged in context against most reviewers that rate samsung LCD's as inferior to the VT20 - and the LCD sets all get 5 stars in the mag (and no doubt that can be backed up by checking the stats at the back of the mag in this months edition)

There such a totally different view of TV performance between you guys and everyone else - weird

Dont get me wrong I 100% believe in your integrity - but its just unsettling as somebody is getting it wrong

Yes, I didn't think you'd want to discuss it, being as it inconveniently blows apart the more ridiculous of your notions....

When it comes to the VT20, no one is getting it 'wrong'.

As I said earlier in the thread, the VT20 would have got five stars if we'd reviewed it earlier - before the HX903 appeared.

We didn't choose to delay the review - that was Panasonic's choice.

And we're the only ones to review the HX903 to date - it'll be interesting to see how that fares in other tests.

And not all LCDs get five stars - there's a four-star Sony here for starters. THere's a three-star 3D LCD in the new issue, too...

I am being totally fair, and coming to this issue with no preconceptions, prejudices or axes to grind.

And, of course, first-hand knowledge and experience of the products in question and how our testing procedures run.

If you can be equally as balanced, and having read the reviews in question in full, and make no ill-informed judgements about how we work, then yes, i'm happy to discuss it.

This has become the latest popcorn thread!

In the blue corner we have an angry Irishman armed with Panasonic marketing materials.

In the red corner, the WHF team with shields emblazoned "In Stars We Trust".

Let's get ready to ruuuuuuumbllllllllle!!!

I'd just like a clarification of your

maxflinn:what i suspected all along i now know to be correct ..

as without such clarification the remark is nothing more than a groundless insinuation that you 'know' there is something untoward happening.
