I am trying to purchase a panasonic 50V10 - I have spoken with comet and currys and they have informed me that this TV has been discontinued ?

I find this hard to believe as it was only released in apr / march 2009. However, looking on line most places appear to be out of stock.

Can anyone confirm if this tv has been discontinued ?

Does any one also know where I can purchase this tv with the possibility of paying on finance / deposit and monthly payments ?

Hi

The 50V10 is not discontinued yet, the problem is that it is over sold with Panasonic and they have had to deal with the demand on a strict allocation basis meaning that ordered tv's will be dealt with on what date dealers ordered their stock, so it will be extremely hard to get one until all back orders are dealt with first, hence Panasonic have stopped us retailers ordering by the bucket load until the back orders are finished first.

I do need to make you aware that the 50V10 will be discontinued in a few months as will most of Panasonic's 2009 range, this is to make way of the 2010 range, which will slowly flow in with the basic models first and then the replacement to the 50V10 will be around the second quarter of this year i think.

If you want to get a 50V10 which is a superb tv, i would get one ordered from an established retailer that you can trust and you will have to wait a little bit until stock arrives as Panasonic do have a delivery of these coming in this month to the UK but i do not know if it is enough to cover the back log. Now regarding interest free, there are some retailers out there who do this but you will have to search high and low as most retailers do the "buy now and pay later" scheme instead.

I hope this helps.

I was originally looking at the V10 but ran in to the same availability options. I ended up getting the G10 and am very pleased indeed.

The G10 is a great tv for the money but sadly the plasma models are discontinued now, the 50" version is the one im unsure about regarding availability as Panasonic may have a last delivery into the UK for this size but nothing is certain, rumours of maybe a last delivery of the 42" and 46" have also been mentioned but not certain too, so if you are after any of these models, then be advised to look for retailers that have stock available for immediate pick up or delivery.

Panasonic do have the replacement model to the G10 due to come out but no dates or prices yet.

Just a update for anyone after a 50" G10 or V10, there will be no more delivery into the UK from Panasonic, so if you have one on order with a retailer, you will need to check if they have had a confirmed date on your tv, if there is no date, then please be advised that you may have some bad news coming your way. If your looking into buying one now then you have to make sure you order one from a retailer that has stock on hand as otherwise you will be paying money out then having it refunded when your told that they cannot fulfill the order.

As for 42V10, same story, there is no more coming into the UK from Panasonic, so again the same story regarding back orders and also new customer looking to purchase.

I hope this helps.
