New guy needing advice on a new Amp

HI guys new guy here needing some advice on a new or newish Amp. So ive had an Arcam Alpha 9 from when it was about 2 years old this was great for years till it ended up with a crackly volume so i retired it about 6 years ago and bought an Arcam A32. Had this 6 years its also been great but its now got a volume problem which at some point im going to get fixed and use it as a back up amp, So my question is whats about thats worth looking at. Im not keen on the Arcam stuff after the A39 so my short list is for around the £800 mark the Roksan K3 i can get this new for £799 the Arcam A39 = now getting a bit old can get a nice one for £500-600 the Rega Elicit R used for around £800 i need a Phono stage thats a must.

And just so you guys know im running a Project Carbon deck an Arcam CD72 through Monitor Audio bronze 6 speakers
and i listen to Metal from Led Zep/Black Sabbath all the way to the really thrashy stuff like Napalm Death etc

I'd be awful tempted with the Rega Elicit R, especially if you're into your viynl as well, think you#d be hard pushed to find much better for the budget.

Hi thanks yes ive been pondering that one thing is i cant hear it before i buy and its the least powerful of the 3 at 100 watts my friend has an old Rega Mira clam shell one it sounds awesome with his set up he also has a much better room to play it in than me.

Too right it wouldn't.
If a crackly volume control is the only issue, a can of Servisol Super 10 is all you need.
(You be getting little more than a few squirts as part of a 'service').

Can't be bothered? Get it to me in Essex, I'll do it for £20.

Slight problem with that is I can't find anyone here In Gloucestershire that will look at it ive sent messages to all the hifi repair guys no one has got back to me.

The A32 issue is the volume goes up really high on its own then clips then cuts out.
You can switch it back on till it does it again its the Alpha 9 with the crackly volume ive fixed it myself a few times it just comes back worse.

I tried to book the A32 in with Audio T in Cheltenham to get it sent back to Arcam but when I said that the Amp had been re-capped by a hifi specialist in Kent before I got it. Then guy in the shop said that Arcam will charge me to look at it then they may say that they will not fix it as it already been repaired by a third party.

Sounds like the carbon tracks have been worn beyond help.
Surely, well worth replacing the volume potentiometer 👍

id love to but you cant get the parts for it i looked into it when the problem started turns out that volume pot is a bit special and they dont make it anymore thats why i ended up with the A32.

You could always try an Arcam power amp in partnership with the A32. I got a bit more clarity and a lower end bass when I tried it with my A70.

I did ring Arcam about my A32 and the guy said to book it in with my local Audio T
so ill take it back to them. But on a side note im still on the hunt for a newer ish amp.

You could always try an Arcam power amp in partnership with the A32. I got a bit more clarity and a lower end bass when I tried it with my A70.

unfortunately I don't have the space so it really has to be a single integrated Amp upto 120mm high

Right guys thought i just give you a bit of a heads up im defo going to get the A32 fixed and ive dropped the hammer on a new Arcam A15 got a cracking deal from Peter Tyson got it today and god does it sound awesome the best 900 bucks ive ever blown lol ;-)
