musical fidelity vs cyrus..

Down to buisness, A musical fidelity x-ray v8 for just under 500 pounds or a cyrus cd6 for four hundred pounds that can be upgraded to the new 6se for an extra 300 quid or to the mouth watering 8se spec for 500... On its own i think the x-ray v8 will cream the cd6, i used to have the original x-ray and it was awesome, so the v8 must be cut of the same cloth. Either player presents a strong case for purchase, what would you go for?

personally i think the xray is far better than the cd6 - by the way its less than 450 at moorgate accoustics and they will post it - very good service from them. but if you are planning on constant upgrades to your system the cyrus is the more flexible choice. i have the xray v8 and v8 dac and its the best sounding player i have ever heard until you hit serious money.

Mate do NOT pay 400 for a cd6. I Brought mine for less than 200 delivered. And i Sold mine for 180 delivered (used but immaculate). If you are thinking of upgrading look for a second hand model try cyrus forum or ebay (not new). If its a cd 6"S" Then 400 is still too much! Look around before you buy.

Forget the Cyrus 6 unless you're going to get it upgraded. The XRay represents very good value at the moment and sounds superb, but I would say that as I just bought one! Does the upgrade to the 6SE or 8SE change the transport for that money? Presumably it must do else nothing would change except the badge.

The Cyrus would be a good bet if you like upgrading but remember to factor in the courier costs too. For me the MF won this same debate. Good luck!

yep with the upgrade you get pretty much most of the innards removed from the older models. Infact im not sure what actually remains? But yeah its full se spec and you get a 3 month warranty. Its deffinatly worth it to find a cheap cd6 and upgrade to 6se. I agree that as they are the MF is a way better player.
