Yes, after several reboots I am exactly where I was this morning with the apparent IP address of 10.0.0.101, but I still can't access it with http://Volumio.local. It is showing in the finder window on the iMac. I'll now do the reboot sequence as you suggested.

Ok, have you tried http://10.0.0.101 in your browser on the iMac?

Unfortunately, I don't have access to my Pi at the moment as we're away for the weekend. From memory, I found that just typing the IP address was a much more reliable way to access the RPi...

Yes. I did, but got nothing. I have now rebooted the Sitecom followed by the AirPort Extreme, but the Pi won't boot up!!

That hasn't worked unfortunately.

OK the Pi has booted up and this time I've got an IP address of 10.0.0.102, but I still can't access it.

What does "sudo ifconfig" on the Pi output?

An ifconfig from your iMac would also be handy...

On the basis of that output, you "should" be up and running with the Pi's address currently 10.0.0.201 (so http://10.0.0.201 in the iMac/iPad's browser *should* work)...

I agree, it should now work. I'm now wondering if MPD is the problem.

Ifor on your Mac try to ssh into your RPi,

In the terminal enter 'ssh root@10.0.0.201' you will be promted for the password, which is volumio, so type volumio and press enter (the terminal window will remain blank when entering the password)

Then enter 'sudo /etc/init.d/mpd restart' the output should something like mpd restarting.

Once its restarted, go back to your browser and enter the IP address

Well its timing out so sounds like you're using the wrong IP (or ssh isnt enabled on the pi, which it should beby default in volumio)

From the output you posted on the last page I thought you were using the static config I posted, so try 10.0.0.201 instead of .101

No, I meant on the Mac. Hmm. Did you get any kind of error when trying to ssh in?

Terminal reads:

ssh: connect to host 10.0.0.102 port 22: Operation timed out

Excuse me for butting in, so to speak... is that a typo above? ie 10.0.0.102 should read 10.0.0.201?

Daveh may not realise, ifor do you still have the pi connected to tv/keyboard ? If so you can run the "sudo /etc/init.d/mpd restart" directly from the pi without using ssh for now...

I reverted from the static IP config because it didn't seem to get us anywhere. It is 201 I have tried.

That was my fault sort of... ifor had dhcp working at one stage, then we crossed posts, then it all got a bit confused, and I think some confusion (or typos) may remain regards to IP addresses.

Anyways, I'll butt out for now - too many cooks etc - you're a bit better with the clear instructions than me daveh

OK, and the web ui isn't loading if you enter http://10.0.0.102 into a browser?

What about if you enter 'ssh root@10.0.0.102' and enter the password 'volumio' in the terminal on your Mac?

i've tried both of those with no luck.

OK, on the pi,

Try a "sudo /etc/init.d/mpd restart" wait for that to finish, and then also do 'sudo /etc/init.d/ssh restart'

Then back to your Mac again try entering,10.0.0.102 in the browser, and try to ssh in again.

I don't think this is going to work BTW, (I think we're missing some network config issue, but currently scratching my head as to what) but its worth a try.

Whilst on your Mac also try pinging the RPi. Enter 'ping 10.0.0.102 -c 10' and post the output.

Just had a thought! I have (finally!) remembered having the same issue with the web gui when I first set it up. Now I've never been quite sure exactly what I did to get it working, but...

Install an app called "MPod" on your iphone/iPad and on that app, under connections, enter the IP address of you Pi and see if that works...

Worth a shot, even if only for troubleshooting purposes.

Thanks Dave. I've not had a chance to try this yet; the afternoon was taken over by important paper work. I'll give it a go before work in the morning.

Where under connections do I enter the IP address?

In MPod, select Menu, then Connections (guess you've already done this)

Select "Add player manually"

Select "Name" - give it any name you like

Connection mode - keep as the default (Remote)

Select Server - enter the IP address of your Pi

Ignore all other settings (ie leave them as they are) and press Save (top right corner)

If everything is working properly, you should now see your Pi listed under "Configured Players" with the name you gave it, it's IP address, and a bold "wireless" symbol and bold "remote control" symbol. If the wireless symbol is greyed out then MPod can't connect and something is [still] wrong with the set up.

If you do have a bold "wireless" symbol then select Menu again, then Browse, and you should see a list comprising of "USB" and "WEBRADIO"... that's probably as far as we can go for now as you don't have any music stored in the database yet.

Hope that makes sense - am a bit knackered and off to bed very soon!
