Thank you Simon.

Much prefer the new-look website and those EB2s look very interesting indeed. I won't be in the market for speakers for a long time (love my Roths) but when I am I can see them being a strong candidate.

Hi,

I had the same thing. It is correct. They also produce another brand, which btw also got a 5* rating here. On the website, I know that the website for these guys was build in China. Richard is trying to move the hosting to the UK, but it is taking a bit so he told me.

chebby:
Anyway, what about those new EB2s I mentioned earlier?

Far more important, especially given that the company acknowledges the input from WHF forum members.

(Here is the original thread.)

what a great idea , hats off to them , i hope they sound great and sell well...

DIB,

I expect mine to arrive next week and I ordered Feb 3rd. So bear with it!

I think it's great that EBA is actually developing a closed cabinet speaker because people on this forum asked for it. How many manufacturers would do that?

Looking forward to see the EB2's become available to order!

Btw, Thanks Andrew for editing my post.

Would'nt they do better to work the backlog before developing another speaker? I'd say there's a good chance that by the time your version 2's arrive, something will have died and fossilised in the port of your current speaker, effectively making it an IB too.

I was starting to be a little disappointed when I saw that the eb2s would work better close to a wall, but then I looked at the dimensions... woah! They're about twice the volume of the eb1s 🙂 I'll be patient and try to get my new audio card to work on linux in the meantime then...

I had to wait about 6 weeks for mine, and have had them since mid-december. Really really pleased with them. They produce a big fat controlled bass for such a weeny speaker and a very natural clear sound. Won't be upgrading them for many-a-year I think.

Regarding PayPal, that may be something to do with all the problems they had with their online credit card system. They just couldn't seem to get the problem rectified so I guess they've given up on it. Slightly different implications if they are taking the money upfront, although there is some recourse with Paypal. They didnt charge my credit card until after the 30 day trial period after delivery. However, my impression is that these are thoroughly decent guys, and I don't have any qualms about recommending them.

I hadn't heard about the sister company (Arcaydis) until I spoke to them on the phone and they told me about it. I don't know but I expect the reason for the two brands are to do with internal business politics (ie. ownership) rather than anything else, but it is hardly an issue.

I am thinking their photo is a 'placeholder' until they get a better one posted.

The new site is only half a day old and the product only just announced and - all the evidence suggests - v.busy making EB1s still.

But yes, they need a better photo. (Wire fencing in the background doesn't help.)

Hi All.

Long time no speak. Sorry for that!.

1). EB Acoustics has moved to another server. This means that I can get at it easily and update it.

2). Yes, there were problems with the credit card system but that wasn't the system. Guess what??! It was the bank!. Gone. Only way to do this properly in my opinion is with Paypal. It's not cheap but it is safe and secure.

3). I've tried to make this site simple to use. When ordering, your paypal transaction number is your order number. No drop down menus to screw it up. If you want Oak EB1's click the Oak button and viki verki for black.

4). As regards EB2, that photo was put there to show that I do listen to what I'm told and I've built it! (Sounds pretty damned good too!!!).

I'm sorry the website went off but any IT guy will tell you that when you re-direct a site to a new server, it can take 24-48 hours to propigate. I'm still ironing the bugs out now.

Finally, yes. I'm mega busy. I have 57 (57!!!) pairs of EB1's to see to. All emails appear to be working on the site again and I hope it doesn't fall over like the old one used to.

Thanks for your patience guys and gals. I appreciate it.

Ricky.

6 weeks for me too.If you remember Jimmy I went on record as saying that initially I thought they were good but was not sure that they were an improvement on my Quad 12L2's. After the full 30 days of heavy use my opinion changed, just like you said it would! I liked my Quads but the EB1's are just that much better. As you say the bass from such a small speaker is just wonderful and I can't see any need to change anytime soon.

.

Ha! Yes I do remember.... glad you like them too. It's funny but at first I wondered whether the sound was a bit 'thin', and it was only when I popped the old speakers back on that I realised it wasn't thinness, it was clarity.

EB Ricky:I do listen to what I'm told

So the active slim floorstander with built in DAC and a plug socket for Airport Express is next then?

EB Ricky:any IT guy will tell you that when you re-direct a site to a new server, it can take 24-48 hours to propigate

Except when the new server suddenly breaks unexpectedly after you've made the DNS change, in which case it happens in about half an hour, leaving you with no Gramophone...

Ah, that was why...

If they can't cope with current demand, how are they going to deal with a second model? at least this way EBA will have a distribution network to ease any future bottlenecks. I'm sure they could strike a deal with retailers. Business is like hi-fi, a compromise...

EB are experiencing the problems of success, that's all.

Morgan Cars used to have a 2 - 3 year waiting list and they were urged - during a documentary - by an industry/business 'guru' (John Harvey Jones) to change their whole manufacturing and business model to get Morgans out the door quicker.

Needless to say they didn't take the advice. The reason their customers were prepared to wait so long was BECAUSE the car was completely hand-crafted and took time to make properly, and because Morgan was such an anachronism in a world of cars spat out by vast computerised factories.

JHJ argued that some people were selling their places in the waiting list for a profit - money that was not going to Morgan - but they simply said that didn't want that sort of customer and they certainly wouldn't be changing their working practices to cater for them.

Harbeth have equally long waiting times to those of EB Acoustics (if not longer) for their P3ESR model - especially in the Far East - and yet customers seem to realise this is because the product is made by hand by a very small company. They realise the reasons they have to wait are the reasons they want the speaker.

Good luck to EB and I hope they get success with the new EB2 as well. Perhaps they could develop the website to emphasise some of the reasons why their product takes time to build (like Harbeth do) showing photographs of cabinets being hand crafted etc. Make a virtue of it.
