Yes, and for some people they will be perfect. But for me, they're heeeeoooooooge.

Although not as unaccommodatably huge as the Q Acoustics 2050 that I saw while I was downstairs, which is a shame because they are infeasibly bl--dy gorgeous for 370 quid or whatever they are.

Hubba hubba!! 449 for the gloss finish I think and 370 the standard ones. Meant to be well capable of hitting above their weight too. Looking forward to the review in a couple of titles next month then...!

EB Acoustics quote...

450mm tall, 225mm wide, 296mm deep (310mm including grille).

So 10mm taller than ATC SCM19s (440 x 223 x 315mm).

Doesn't seem too bad. Owners would just need shorter stands.

Hopefully (not being ported) they can be used close to walls.

'bout the same size as my Tannoy Ascots then (which are starting to show their age).

I looked with interest at the EB1s at WHF towers but they are too small to sit on my current stands. These new ones sound perfect in theory.

Looking back on the EB2.

Decision to make large sealed standmounter: 3rd Feb 2010.

Available to buy: 29th May 2010

4 months. That's unbelieveable. I bet B&W spend more time desigining the brochure. I also heard that when Spendor were designing the SA1 they spent about a month listening to different speaker terminals........

jules.

Not really.

If you look at the larger companies, they have a huge marketing push to initiate with a new product whilst bearing in mind any previous version it is going to replace. I don't have that problem. EB2 is another one on it's own. Actually Jules, it didn't take 4 months to do, it took 1. My priority while you lot were pondering was to get the backlog of EB1's down.

You see, Ricky, when it comes to your speakers, our forum posters are like behemoths to a flame...

So , Ricky , what could you come up with if you spent a decent amount of time on developing a product , say 6 months ?

Nick

So Ricky, now that EB Acoustics have a highly regarded 'matching' set of large and small standmount speakers, it can't be long till we can expect to see a matching centre to complete a nice 5.1 home cinema speaker package eh??!! What are the chances...would be very interesting...

JohnDuncan:chebby:Like these you mean? Except heeeooooge, yeah.

John, you really do need to get out more. That's if they'll let you out.

Have no interest in AV. Never did have. If I want to see a film, I go to the cinema so with that in mind, a centre channel is near zero ( mmmm. But then again!)

And there's the rub...

Why?. Are they scared your gonna run off and not come back or is it the fact that you can't take natural daylight anymore??

Tell ya wot John. You think EB2 is huge, wait til I get round to EB3 in about 6 months time. Heh, heh.

And that you did Ricky. Well worth the wait. The Perfect Speaker.

Work on the prototype EB3 continues apace...

Right Chebby!! Open baffle it is then. 16 feet tall, 3ft wide, 3 inches thick and a sensitivity of around 108dB!!!!! ( And I thought John Duncan needed to get out more!! Hmmmmm.)

Thank Heavens for this guy. Sensible at last!!

EB2 is already available. There is a pair of them at What HiFi to be reviewed for, at the last count, the August issue and don't apologise. It's nice to get this thread back on track.

Time spent developing a product is relative. Initial measurements along with the accquired knowledge of the designer will dictate whether you 'drop lucky' or it's going to be a 'pig'. The latter normally happens when an industrial designer is involved. They come up with a total screwball of an idea, get it past the MD and then you get it with the brief "make it work!!".

At Arcaydis and EB I don't have the problem of a designer like that so it's easier. Plus the fact I'm the MD so even easier still.
