Hmmm, the site has gone decidedly low tech - has HTML gone to the pub?!

The site looks decidedly Lo-Fi (or more likely No-Fi) just now. No graphics, admittedly, no annoying dropdown adverts either, but looks like the site is one step from going back to its's skeleton!

A wee problem maybe?

Like this you mean?

Was getting this most of yesterday,as well as a few times today. The site has also been run pathetically slow again.

Though it appears to be ok ATM.

happened to me this morning. I just re-installed windows and thought it might be me, nice to know it isn`t.

hmm, text mode. normally happens when theres some sort of bandwidth issue!

Apologies for that folks, we have been experiencing a slightly higher number of errors than usual and the occasional problems with pages rendering properly, as you've noticed. Will be having words with Mr Duncan in the morning!

Well the errors question is in hand, but not much idea about the 'text-only' issue - I see that on the BBC sometimes, but not sure what the cause could be...

Their's another thread on this in "about the new site".

Iv'e had this happen to me a few times, i think there is a gremlin in the system.

This seems to be a problem loading the css file for the site.

For the people that this happens, view the source of the site and try to find the css file. Try to use it on your browser (e.g. http://whathifi.com/client/CSS/deliver.ashx?name=base.css&type=css&group=haymarket). If you don't see the css contents it means something is wrong with the link.

Since it's using some active scripting to get the css maybe there is an issue with that ashx.

Clare Newsome:I only happens to me with Firefox, incidentally - other browsers fine.

Yup same for me - last night Firefox went mad like this for a good 10 mins or so (clearing cache etc. made no difference) but Safari was fine.

The site has just gone all retro text on me too. Was fine earlier, but not now. I'm running IE7 on Windows XP on this machine, usually Firefox at home.

JohnDuncan:useful info, ta

Sorry to throw a spanner in but it just happened to me in IE8. Looks very similar to what happened to my Virgin account when logging on to e-mail through the internet, and they were starting to gradually upgrade their system at the time of it going pear shaped.( well all left indented and single columned instead of across the page.

And of course, the minute I post that, it goes back to normal....
