Andrew Everard:

The one on each end of an HDMI cable. The one that falls out with the slightest provocation, can wobble in two planes - so that makes it poor in all three -, more often than not stops working or connects intermittently after it's been plugged in and unplugged a few times and should have had a clip or thumbscrews to hold it in place from the start.

I'd love to know how many problems people have with HDMI interconnects are actually down to the cable - ie the wire - and how many due to poorly made or ill-fitting plugs.

thought these things were soldered, or have i just miss-remembered summat from a speaker cable thread?

Cables soldered or crimped into plugs, yes; I'm talking about the point where the plug meets the socket, which is quite frankly a pathetic piece of design.

Agreed - they really are pants. I now use cable ties to help keep them in place. Way too fragile for the cables they are connecting.

All of them in my opinion. The size of the connector (the bit that actually inserts into the telly/device) is to small/too fragile for something used in consumer electronics.I've seen more robust mobile phone chargers

Indeed they should, or at least have some sort of catch that holds the cable in place, like an ethernet cable. You would have thought they would have learnt after Scart, but apparently not.

Maybe they'll get the next one right... here's hoping.ÿ

So has any body tried these then?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/High-Speed-PLATINUM-Cable-Full-HD-10-2Gbps/dp/B0015YDSWW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1232785292&sr=8-1

I've ordered them I was just to tempted and in anycase they pass the standards that we need and more! Any thing under 7m should work well aparently and for its price i guess its worth the risk lol. I'm bored now so i just plug them in and get on with life instead of letting it bug me or worrying about if i can make quality even better' (its not gonna happen)

I'm sure we've already covered this point, several times. No we haven't, but we have a request in for a review sample.

The number of times you've posted this link, anyone would think you were the person selling those cables...

If people want to think im selling these cables so be it because i know i aint! I just think it seems a good deal for the average person who cant afford to pay out 40 quid or more on brand named cables cos of the pressure they get put under by advertising! So keep your hair on LOL :)

No, you're right - there are lots of people joining this site every day.

Hair firmly in place, just seems strange to keep giving a weblink over and over again in the same thread.

Are people put under pressure by advertising? I don't think I've ever felt pressured into buying anything by advertising...

What i meant by people feeling pressured by advertising was your led to believe just because it costs more it means its going to be better! So the poor guys who cant shell out for a cable thats over a certain amount feel under pressure ie advertising!

When most times a cheaper cable like ive mentioned a few times does the same job a more expensive cable would do!

I re-done the web link to make it easier for people so that they dont have to keep scrolling back because im nice like that LOL.

Anyway you aint exactly going to run out of ink are you? If ive repeated myself to make life easier for others!

Andrew Everard:

Is 'Thank you Andrew' that funny?

BTW I remain entirely dubious about Amazon reviews, especially when a product gets straight 5s.

Why? Well, this may give you a clue...

Oh sorry seems i have a sense of humour!

yes the reviews are over the top, but the cables cheap and its high spec so im not bothered really about the reviews so much!

How do you know it's high spec? You only have the word of the advertiser on that.

And that really is ironic given your previous statements about being pressured by advertising.

If its not high spec as they claim it is then they would be in serious trouble!

others on here say they loved the cable and pleased with the results!

I read and take in 50% of the adverts and i take in 50% of reviews exactly as i do with what hifi information!

And as i said its a cheaply priced cable that does or seems to do better than the big brands!

Now go a play your MOODS Vinyl please LOL,
