Around 18 months ago upgraded my AV receiver from a Marantz model to the Denon X3100W so I could use 3d passthrough. This was around the same time I purchased the Samsung UE55JS8500 so I made sure I bought a 4k ready receiver cause I didn't wanna be caught out again .... But yet again I was, damn HDCP 2.2! The receiver is HDMI 2.0 and 4k all right, but the damned thing doesn't support HDCP 2.2 which I found out yesterday when I had Sky Q installed. So i'm now going to upgrade the receiver again and hopefully nail UHD blu ray at the same time. I have around £600 to spend and I've found 2x receivers that I'm currently interested in:

Onkyo RZ 800

ONKYO TXRZ800Black Atmos AV Receiver

Onkyo TX-NR838

Onkyo TX-NR838 7.2 Channel 1260W THX Select2 Plus Dolby Atmos 3D 4K/UHD Bluetoot

I guess I'm gonna hand over to the experts now as to which receiver you would purchase?

Thanks

If it was just a UHD BDP giving trouble, you could connect one of the BDP's HDMIs to the TV and the other (audio only) to the receiver.
Is there any way you could connect the Sky Q to the TV with an HDMI and use a digital audio output from the Sky box to feed audio to the receiver? Or use the ARC on the receiver to TV to the same ends?

Thanks guys, I went with the denon x4200, I auditioned the onkyo and i really liked it however I didn't like the idea I can't keep 7.1 with height nor will it fit in our Hifi rack !!

grabbed a pair of onkyo atoms speakers so will get it all set up tonight

One blu Ray and already noticed quite a difference in the way the 4200 handles the steering around the rears, I always felt the 3100 appeared confused in where it was placing sounds and was therefore never persuasive enough

What is the best option for the onkyo upwrards firing 410 atmos speakers in terms of speaker assignment in the amp? I have them as front height at the moment but was thinking that my room is quite narrow like 3-4 meters so maybe middle height?

Thanks
