Hi,

Does anyone know if it is possible to generate sound from a notebook headphone socket to an amplifier when using the HDMI socket to stream films?

I am only currently getting sound coming through the HDTV because of the HDMI cable connection.

Regards

It depends on the type of graphics card in the laptop.

It sounds like you have a graphics card with an onboard hdmi audio controller which you may be able to disable via the control panel > sound (Vista), and then select the default analog audio controller (normally speakers) that will allow audio via the mini jack controller.

You may need to check the audio config in the film streaming software ?

I assume you don't have a surround sound amp with HDMI input that could process the digital audio ?

Any help appreciated. Picture great but can't get sound through HDMI connections. Connections are: Out from Humax Box into Sony Amp. Out from Sony Amp to TV HDMI1 Can only get sound by connecting coax cables
