"He doesn't care for" is a slightly old-fashioned way of saying "he dislikes".
"He doesn't care about" would mean "he isn't interested in".
It may be that the OP actually meant the latter. In any case, I'm not sure such niceties of idiom are relevant here, since the person whose preferences are at stake isn't party to the discussion.
