The Nordost are serious money, but I'm hearing nothing but good things. I'll have to see if any of the local dealers stock them and will do a home trial. They'd have to be REALLY good though, to stump up that kind of cash!

I received my Silver High Breed 'Metaphor LE' interconnect, this morning. Plugged them straight in. Here are my first impressions:
Firstly, Igg was right, they are extremely detailed. The minute details of a vocal performance are reveiled once again, after being veiled for a long time by my previous VDH. Hi-hat, ride, china and splash all have a twinkle to them and sound real.
But, they are bass light. The low end of guitars on albums like Meshuggah 'Nothing' have lost their slam, making the sound thin. Without having the bass present, the overall sound is bright, sometimes uncomfortably so.
These impressions are straight out of the box. I'll leave the system playing on mute for a few days to burn in, then have another listen. I won't write these cables off, yet, because if the tonal balance becomes more neutral after burn -in, they could be excellent cables, especially for £16!

That is exactly what you should do, i felt the same as you (except the bass light bit, as mine came out proper puchy and tight although i admit a little bit of slam has gone) and let it burn-in (as they call it) in my system for a a good 20+ hours and they are much better! They are especially good for the cash and really hard to fault because of that low price. 🙂

To get the perfect balance I put a Chord Chameleon SP between Pre/Power to get the bass through and an SHB between CDP/Pre. The result is definately more detail and definition than having two CSP.

I had a look at your link, RC, those cables look interesting. But being purely silver, I expect that they are very detailed but also very bright. Am I correct? You might be impressed with the Silver High Breed, as it is a hybrid of silver and copper, so might have a little more bass than your cables. If the bass keeps improving as the burn in hours tott up, these are going to be the best 'connects i've heard.

I use the silver high breed coherence (no longer made by the seller) .... was a bit more expensive than the current ones the seller offers .... but can say that I am very happy .... Bass, detail and soundstage are superb on my system

I ordered my metaphor 50cm cable, but when it came to it, SHB discovered they were out of components to make one, so asked if I'd take a coherence 40cm instead. Had it a week or so now, compared to the crimson I was using this cable offers more detail and less issues will bass ( was a little over bearing with the crimson) wider sound stage, ie the sweet spot is broader.

I don't think this would be the same story as the 'Gotham' saga. It seems that the people that have chosen to use these cables, have had pretty expensive interconnects before-hand, and these SHB cables have surpassed them.
If these cables do hold their own against the really expensive cables, it would be great for as many people as possible to find out about them, as they are such a bargain.
So, if Clare, Andrew or any other of the staff members read this, would you do a review? I'd love to see it, i'm willing to buy the interconnect and send it to you, if that would sway you!

There have been various comments such as yours bretty about the bass and also 'brightness'. IMHO, if you like your bass then SHB are right up your street. If you like a thumping, thudding noise that can overwhelm the music, then you are not really a bass fan. You have just got used to an over emphasis of ill-defined bass. An equivalent would be saying you are a fan of vocals and preferring a sound that has the vocals drowning out the rest of the music and to make it worse, you cannot make out all of the lyrics.
I felt that the SHBs were a bit bass light at first. It took a while before it dawned on me that I could make out tons of detail that had not been there before. For some metal tracks I was so taken a back by the sound of the kick drum that I ended up having a great chat with Big Chris. He gave me some links to metal drumming on you tube. It is phenominal what those guys can do with a kick drum.
At first the dynamic will feel as if it has gone. But the SQ is much better, the detail is there is spades and then the dynamic is back again. The notes start and stop quicker and bass becomes more musical. Going back to a 'big' bass would be like going back to a Panasonic boom box, all noise and no dynamics.

some people have said that the silver high breed interconnects are very similar to the old hitachi LC-OFC which are no longer made/available
I'll ask the test team to check out the SHB interconnects next time we're doing a cables round-up.

I compared them to QED's for instance, the QED was a little softer sounding while the AG's had a little more energy, drive and detail.
I guess if your system is allready bright sounding they wouldn't turn it around for sure.
The guy from who i bought them has 100% feedback and he ONLY sells this type of interconnect, at least i like them more then the QED's but i haven't compared to that many interconnects (yet), don't know if i should.
bretty:I received my Silver High Breed 'Metaphor LE' interconnect, this morning. Plugged them straight in. Here are my first impressions: Firstly, Igg was right, they are extremely detailed. The minute details of a vocal performance are reveiled once again, after being veiled for a long time by my previous VDH. Hi-hat, ride, china and splash all have a twinkle to them and sound real. But, they are bass light. The low end of guitars on albums like Meshuggah 'Nothing' have lost their slam, making the sound thin. Without having the bass present, the overall sound is bright, sometimes uncomfortably so. These impressions are straight out of the box. I'll leave the system playing on mute for a few days to burn in, then have another listen. I won't write these cables off, yet, because if the tonal balance becomes more neutral after burn -in, they could be excellent cables, especially for £16! I'll update when I have another listen.
Great! I almost want to buy these Silver High Breeds and compare them with my AG audio cables, the AG's are a little more expensive.
I guess it would be a long shot to find someone on these or other forums that compared the AG audio's to these or similar sounding cables.

I've just had another listen, after about fourteen hours constant play on mute. Encouraging signs. The bass has increased noticeably. It's still a little light, but definitely better. I had a look at your link, RC, those cables look interesting. But being purely silver, I expect that they are very detailed but also very bright. Am I correct? You might be impressed with the Silver High Breed, as it is a hybrid of silver and copper, so might have a little more bass than your cables. If the bass keeps improving as the burn in hours tott up, these are going to be the best 'connects i've heard.

I'll ask the test team to check out the SHB interconnects next time we're doing a cables round-up.
It may not have worked out for Gotham, but the ThatCable HDMI did incredibly well after being recommended here/bought on eBay to test!
