i've just gotten a Musicraft p700 power amp, anyone have any info on this as Internet search has returned nothing

Interesting. That looks more like professional PA kit rather than hifi looking at those three pin connect and rack mounting. It might even be home-made.
Even so I can find nothing about it on the web.....

Yes, and maybe the fan suggests AV use tucked away in a cabinet, maybe?

Is that yellow text on the right hand side of the back panel just warning of the need for an earth?

If you can take the cover off and take a few photos of the internals - one showing the rear of all the back panel sockets....
We might be able to give you ideas what's going on with the connections.

If you've got a meter, best to confirm that you've got a mains earth to the metal chassis before connecting it to the mains (even if you can see a connection with the cover off).
