Energy Saving Home Theater Setup help

Hello, I just moved from Portland, OR to Honolulu, HI. In Portland I had a Yamaha receiver with tower speakers that connected to my tv, and i ran my laptop and gaming system through the receiver, but in Honolulu i am living in an apartment instead of a house, and on top of that the electricity is 3x more expensive. In looking to save some money on electricity, and since I’ll be living in a large studio i believe a home theater receiver is overkill for my needs. But i still want great sound for watching movies and on occasion listening to music. So I am looking for a system that would probably be composed a smaller speakers, lower on energy use, has multiple HDMI inputs while still sounding great. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! Also I am in the process of purchasing a TV, do I need to look for any specific option’s on the tv to make my setup work easier?

Not really sure as to why the state depends on imported oil for a large part of producing electricity, but that's how it is at the moment, and not much I can do about it
