I currently use the standard analogue outputs to my amp on my Cyrus 6s.

I have recently bought a Dacmagic (to decode my Sonos) and was wondering whether I'd get a better sound from the Cyrus 6s by buying an optical lead and using the Dacmagic to decode.

Has anybody done this, and what do they think? I don't particularly want to buy an optical lead, if it isn't going to give me any improvement.

I tried a £120 digital interconnect from my cd player into my dacmagic ( for pc mainly ), and didnt like it, its just a case of your cd players dac vs the dacmagics dac, whichever wins will sound best to you. Demo a lead and try its the only way.

I think you might need to step up the DAC ladder a bit to improve on the Cyrus onboard DAC. Maybe a Stello SA100 or the like. No disrespect to the DACMagic, but I'm not so sure it would be better. Different yes, better is moot. Only you can tell though, so give it a whirl and see what you think.
