Changing drivers...

Hello, I'm new to all of this hifi malarkey and I've recently been given some speakers, they are very bassy and when I turn the bass down they just don't sound too good. They are Eltax Millenium 200s (in ex condition)and I was wondering if I bought some better drivers and crossovers it would be a cheaper/better way of getting a more balanced sound out of them? Or would I just be better off buying a better pair of speakers? They are hooked up to a Cambridge Audio A1 amp. Thanks in advance.
