A friend has some old Wharfedale E200i's that his kids put dents in the cones when they were younger and the speakers now distort.

There's very little information available on them online, does anyone know if they were any good in their day and is worth trying to source some replacement drivers for them?
If so any idea what may be compatible and where to find them ..... or are they really just for for getting rid of?

'Exclusive to Laskys', that shows their age.
I wouldn't be chucking them....but that's because I never chuck anything 😐

Where's the harm in him getting a screwdriver on those 6 screws, decorative ring off - and having a look at the drivers?

There may be a label of some sort on the magnet.
Regardless, a low cost, same sized replacement pair of drivers might be a good move (assuming the tweeters are ok).

...I'd probably swap those springclip terminals for some 4mm binding posts too.

Yeah, very old. This was pre Rank ownership, as my old Wharfedales (Linton XP2 & E20) all had the Rank name at the bottom of the rear label.

Personally I wouldn't have thought those dents would cause large distortions of the bass cone, something else might be amiss. Is the tweeter damaged as well?
Are the rubber surrounds intact?
Are the woofers screwed down tight?

Must admit I thought the same, I had some old B&W's with dents in the cone and they sounded fine, maybe it's different material though.

He's not using them at the moment, maybe I'll get him to drop them round and have a proper look as I've not actually heard themself as they weren't hooked up when I took the pic and the rest of the stereo was packed away as he was moving..
