Celestion 5 speakers

I have inherited a pair of Celestion 5 bookshelf speakers, first purchased in about 1992 I believe. I am going to transport them back home to try with my CA 540 v2 amp. Does anybody know these speakers? What can I expect?

They are excellent speakers and part of the last really good Celestion range. A good even tonal balance and sheer musicality that many modern designs can't match.

Only my opinion of course, and I'll look forward to hearing yours when you have had chance to try them.

I've have a pair of Celestion 3's since the early 90's. The 3 is a slightly smaller version with a 5.25" woofer and same tweeter. It is a very smooth and musical speaker. Not the most dynamic, loud, or hard rocking of designs, but wonderful voicing and sweet tweeter. .....enjoy!

Thanks guys. You are both right, the C5's are sweet - very musical, and much warmer than the JBL E30s I previously had on. They are loud enough for the space I have, and they have plenty of bass too. Very enjoyable!
