My current cd/dvd player the old Yamaha DVD s2500 has died and i loved the sound with CDs. I run a pretty decent pc rig with the ASUS STX card and im now converting to a flac library, but i have my eye on the Marantz CD6005 as a replacment to my old dvd player as its only for music i used it for anyway.

It will be paired with my Sony DA2400ES and Kef iQ5s and three kef eggs for surround but they dont matter here as im only concerned about stereo sound.

My question is, do i stick with what i have or will i notice the extra quality from the Marantz for the £200 - £280

Any help would be greatfull

Since you are building a flac library anyway, I'd use it as an excuse to ditch CD players for good. (maybe consider using ALAC if you're going to use iTunes).

I'd go and listen to a few DACs and see what you think.

I was in your position about a year ago and went the Mac Mini/iTunes/Audirvana (or bitperfect)/Dac route and haven't looked back.
