It's a kind of shame that the debate centres around multichannel music, it's the extra quality that sells it for me, not whether it's stereo or multichannel because you'll probably get both anyway. The first SACD I heard made my spine tingle, the extra clarity and superb bass. Either way, you're right, the majority of the public aren't overly interested. It's such a tease, I was introduced to SACD and DVD-Audio a few years ago with my Pioneer firewire set-up and loved it, but I'll admit it's dead in the water. I guess there is some glimmer of hope for higher resolution audio with BD-Audio, but they've got extend the releases beyond Classical & Jazz.
